In the common practice of geotechnical design, state soil is considered fully saturated, while recent examples show importance consideration unsaturated conditions as well due to location groundwater table at deeper levels. However, it problematic design a foundation and calculate bearing capacity internal stress in needs be quantified. The mechanics soils are critical engineering, especially when case required. This study aims investigate influence suction on shaft pile foundations based data obtained from situ laboratory testing. three modified methods (i.e., α, β, λ) were implemented this order incorporating principles. addition, effect varying matric was discussed. results changes rain infiltration piles conditions. It can concluded that most conservative method found β designing rainwater infiltration. cost optimization shall choosing for design. As increase GWT, λ depicted conventional behavior. possible decreases suction, mostly upper layers.
